Sweet yet sassy and all things Southern! She and I first met years ago at church. We were attending a small group for parents of children with special needs. She will tell you she knew she was gonna love me from her first impression of me based on the introduction of myself. I announced to the church group – of all people – “Hey, y’all, my name is Jane Hart and I do love Jesus, but I also like to cuss”. So, there you have it. Two peas in a pod. It never matters how long (or short) it’s been since we have seen each other because we always instantly carry on. We laugh and cry. She understands from deep in her soul and by living it herself why my heart is broken a little every day. We are not just mamas. We are mamas of children (my now adult one) with special needs. Our girls have nowhere near the same disability but the pain we experience is the same. We also know what it’s like to fight for our children every day. EVERY DAY! So, for today here is the good . . . I am BLESSED to call her my friend, my sister and to have her be part of my inner circle – my Girl Gang. Did I mention how beautiful and always put together she is? She is bold and courageous giving all she has to her family and friends. I am thankful. I love you, Dava! Much Peace and Love Y’all! Have a great weekend.
The founding belief of this company is to bring you inspiring positivity one breath at a time. All of our products are a reflection of this very idea. For example, our LFTG (Look For The Good) Jars are filled with inspirational sayings/quotes. Each saying/quote has a crack ‘n peel backing so if you want to you can stick it on something for a positive reminder or simply throw it back in for a random draw another day. So having said that, periodically I will be doing my own random draw out of my personal LFTG jar and will be posting it on here with a story that emulates that message. These will be named “Positive Purposeful Post”. Let’s do the first one now . . .
If not you, then who? If not now, then when?
It’s kinda funny that this was the one that came out of my LFTG jar today. Or is it? I do believe The Lord has a sense of humor. I also think He must laugh at what we think are our fabulous ideas sometimes. Kev and I have had numerous talks over the years about our unique life situation. The older Grayson gets the harder life gets. It’s just reality and sometimes reality sucks! Every time reality calls I just want to hang up but it keeps calling so most of the time I answer. Speaking of answering Kev and I have separately felt The Lord speak to us recently about starting a small group through our church. We keep waiting for someone else to do it because even though my daddy is a retired Southern Baptist preacher I am no Bible scholar. Years ago we had a small group and the leaders, Jennie and Jasen, were wonderful. However, the timing of the gatherings began to not work with our schedule and eventually they moved away. Our church is always talking about taking your next step and lately it has been asked of us “Who are your people?” Well, quite honestly when you have a severely handicap child, who on top of that is no longer a child, your “people” become few. We are very isolated. It is difficult, to say the least, to take Grayson places. How will we get her inside? Most places have steps. Between her and her wheelchair it’s nearly 200 pounds and the lifting is awful! How will we change her diaper? Where can we lay her down and have privacy? Will they have food she can actually eat since she really doesn’t chew – instead basically swallows. Eventually people just stop asking us to do things because it is too hard on everyone. Sad but true. BUT I am not one to give up! We are going to create a group for parents/grandparents/(whoever it is) of children AND ADULTS with special needs. We need support! We need to feel loved! We need to be surrounded by other people who “get it”! We also need support and love from those who don’t live this unique life. WE NEED COMMUNITY! So for today to answer the questions “If not you, then who? If not now, then when?” and here is the good . . . My husband, The Kevin Hart, and I will be starting a home group very soon. Stay tuned and be on the lookout for the next Positive Purposeful Post! Peace and Love Y’all! Have a fabulous holiday weekend!
